¿A quién adorar? Who to worship?
“Pero nuestro Dios está en el cielo; Él hace lo que le place. Sus ídolos son de plata y oro, obra de manos de hombres. Tienen bocas, pero no hablan; Ojos que tienen, pero no ven; Tienen oídos, pero no oyen; Narices que tienen, pero no huelen; Tienen manos, pero no manejan; Pies que tienen, pero no caminan; Tampoco murmuran por la garganta. Los que los hacen son como ellos; También lo es todo el que confía en ellos. Oh Israel, confía en el Señor; Él es su ayuda y su escudo ". Salmo 115: 3-9
Las Escrituras nos enseñan que los cristianos deben adorar al único Dios vivo. Salmos 95: 6-7 deja en claro por qué debemos adorar, “Oh, vengan, adoremos e inclinémonos; Arrodémonos ante el Señor nuestro Hacedor. Porque Él es nuestro Dios, y nosotros somos el pueblo de su pasto, y las ovejas de su mano ”. La adoración trae libertad a nuestras almas y nos libera de la opresión. Los verdaderos adoradores adorarán a Dios en espíritu y en verdad, porque el Padre es el Espíritu (Juan 4:24). ¿Por qué los cristianos no adoran ídolos e imágenes? La Biblia dice que solo el Señor es nuestro Dios y que no debemos reconocer a ningún otro dios que no sea Él: “Sin embargo, yo soy el Señor tu Dios desde la tierra de Egipto, y no conocerás a Dios sino a mí; Porque no hay salvador fuera de mí ”Oseas 13: 4. La Biblia nunca menciona que debemos adorar a los santos o vírgenes. Isaías 42: 8 dice: “Yo soy el Señor, ese es mi nombre; Y mi gloria no la daré a otro, ni mi elogio a las imágenes talladas ".
Una relación con Dios naturalmente produce adoración a Él y sabemos que Él nos pondrá a prueba, nos desafiará, nos colmará de dones, nos proveerá, nos protegerá y sabemos que nos ha salvado. Él se involucra tan íntimamente en nuestras vidas y, a cambio, deberíamos alabarlo y adorarlo. La verdadera adoración no es forzada o falsa; La adoración fluye naturalmente de nosotros hacia Aquel que controla nuestra vida y nuestro destino. El rey David escribió algunas de las buenas razones de por qué debemos adorar a Dios:
“Quien hizo el cielo y la tierra, el mar y todo lo que hay en ellos; Quien guarda la verdad para siempre, Quien ejecuta la justicia para los oprimidos, Quien da comida al hambriento. Nosotros, como cristianos, debemos ofrecer alabanzas y adoración al Señor todopoderoso a través de nuestras oraciones y canciones en nuestros servicios y en cada momento de nuestras vidas. "Por lo tanto, por Él ofrezcamos continuamente el sacrificio de alabanza a Dios, es decir, el fruto de nuestros labios, dando gracias a Su nombre" Hebreos 13:15.
“But our God is in heaven; He does whatever He pleases. Their idols are silver and gold, The work of men’s hands. They have mouths, but they do not speak; Eyes they have, but they do not see; They have ears, but they do not hear; Noses they have, but they do not smell; They have hands, but they do not handle; Feet they have, but they do not walk; Nor do they mutter through their throat. Those who make them are like them; So is everyone who trusts in them. O Israel, trust in the Lord; He is their help and their shield.” Psalm 115:3-9
Scripture teaches us as Christians should worship the one and only living God. Psalms 95:6-7 makes it clear on why we should worship, “Oh come, let us worship and bow down; Let us kneel before the Lord our Maker. For He is our God, And we are the people of His pasture, And the sheep of His hand.” Worship brings freedom to our souls and frees us from oppression. True worshippers will worship God in spirit and in truth, for the Father is the Spirit (John 4:24). Why don’t Christians worship idols and images? The Bible says that the Lord alone is our God and we should not recognize any other gods that is not Him, “Yet I am the Lord your God Ever since the land of Egypt, And you shall know no God but Me; For there is no savior besides Me” Hosea 13:4. The Bible never mentions that we should worship saints or virgins Isaiah 42:8 says, “I am the Lord, that is My name; And My glory I will not give to another, Nor My praise to carved images.”
A relationship with God naturally produces worship of Him and we know that He will test us, challenge us, showers us with gifts, provides for us, protects us, and we know that He has saved us. He becomes so intimately involved in our lives and in return we should be praising and adoring Him. True worship is not forced or false; worship flows naturally from us towards the One who controls our life and destiny. King David wrote some of the good reasons of why we need to worship God:
“Who made heaven and earth, The sea, and all that is in them; Who keeps truth forever, Who executes justice for the oppressed, Who gives food to the hungry. The Lord gives freedom to the prisoners. The Lord opens the eyes of the blind; The Lord raises those who are bowed down; The Lord loves the righteous. The Lord watches over the strangers; He relieves the fatherless and widow; But the way of the wicked He [a]turns upside down. The Lord shall reign forever— Your God, O Zion, to all generations. Praise the Lord!” Psalm 146:6-10
Us as Christians should offer praise and worship to the Lord almighty through our prayers and songs in our services and every moment of our lives. “Therefore by Him let us continually offer the sacrifice of praise to God, that is, the fruit of our lips, giving thanks to His name” Hebrews 13:15.
